VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NEIGHBORS WHO CARE

Neighbors Who Care is an organization composed mainly of volunteers. During the summer many volunteers leave, but the homebound clients are unable to leave.  Therefore, the summer months present the challenge of providing services.  There have been times during this summer when clients were unable to go to physical therapy, a doctor’s appointment, and to the supermarket to buy food.  In addition, there have been days when the there weren’t enough volunteers to provide assistance in the office to answer phones and schedule appointments.

We hope you might consider volunteering to help provide transportation, volunteer in the office, deliver dinners, do minor home repair, make reassurance calls from your home, and/or provide respite care so the caretakers can do their own errands.   Volunteers can help as much or as little as they wish.  For most services, there is no set schedule; a scheduler calls to see if you are available.

This organization began as “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” in the early days of Sun Lakes.  Please consider helping your neighbors by volunteering, especially during these summer months.  Please call the Neighbors Who Care office at 895-7133 for further information and to volunteer to make a difference with your neighbors.
