RESIDENTS CAN ENJOY FREE TENNIS AT OAKWOOD
Now that the Oakwood tennis courts are owned by the HOA, residents may use them for free. All you need is your IronOaks ID card, a tennis racquet, balls and a desire to have some fun!!! This change took effect October 20 when the Board adopted new tennis rules.*
Residents must stop by the front desk of the Tennis & Fitness Center to sign in. Upon showing an IronOaks ID card, they will be assigned an open court. This process ensures that reservations for courts made by tennis club members are honored and courts scheduled for other tennis activities are not taken by walk-on players.
The best time of day to find open courts for play is after 1:30pm.
So dust off that old racquet and enjoy the beautiful weather by playing some tennis.
Q. Can I bring guests or family members?
Yes. You may bring guests, family members, grandchildren. They are welcome to join you on the courts for walk-on play. Each resident is permitted to bring one adult guest, so at least 50% of adult players should be residents with IronOaks ID cards. The 50% requirement does not apply to children under 18. So a resident may bring several grandchildren to play tennis. When children under 18 are playing, at least one adult must be present.
Q. If non-members can use the courts, what is the advantage of tennis membership?
Members have the advantage of being able to reserve courts up to two-days in advance through a call-in system. Reservations assure that a court is available for play at a specific time. In addition, tennis members enjoy the tennis socials, tournaments and other club activities and have the right to use the sauna, lap pool and spa at the fitness center.
*The “Rules for Tennis & Pickleball,” approved by the Board October 20, may be found on the IronOaks website http://www.ironoakshoa.org/Tennis/PDF/TennisRules.pdf. Paper copies are available at the Tennis &Fitness Center.
